Steven R. Van Hook is
experienced in international adult education, transcultural
learning, transcultural relations, economic
development, news media, and business communications. He has held leadership
positions in education and economic development programs through the United
States Agency for International
Development, Head Start, and VISTA.
His interests include expanding
worldwide access to learning opportunities – especially for
developing nations – with research in transcultural
themes and images; worldwide education
access through appropriate tactics and technology; theories of learning;
sociocultural
influences on economic development; organization
of international learning institutions; and innovations
in international and domestic education. He has taught for
universities in
the United States and Eastern Europe, including courses in
cross-cultural communication, global issues, international business and
